SUMMARY:Listening: Where Mind Meets Brain Affective Systems in Clinical Practice
DESCRIPTION:Listening: Where Mind Meets Brain \nAffective Systems in Clinical Practice: Neuropsychoanalysis in Action Series\n10 CEs \nWhat if improving therapeutic outcomes didn’t require learning a new technique—but listening differently? \n5-week course\,\nLive on Zoom only\,\nfrom ACAP in Livingston\, NJ \nWednesdays\, Feb 25 – March 25\, 2026\, 7:00 to 8:40pm (EST) \nCourse Fee: $350 \nCo-sponsored by BGSP-NJ & NAAP \n\nThis course invites clinicians to deepen therapeutic listening using Jaak Panksepp’s emotional systems as a guide to understanding development\, relationship\, and psychopathology. By focusing on the Lust\, Care\, Panic–Grief\, and Play Systems\, clinicians learn how affective brain processes shape motivation\, attachment\, loss\, and resilience—and how subtle shifts in listening can support safety\, regulation\, and meaningful change in therapy. \nDesigned to be immediately applicable to clinical work\, the course integrates case material\, discussion\, video\, and guest presenters\, and concludes with a practical look at psychopharmacology and collaborative clinical practice when medication is part of treatment. \n  \nFor clinicians seeking depth without pressure—and a new way of listening that supports change. \nNo prior participation in the Listening series is required. \nThis 5-week section addresses the foundations of neuropsychoanalytic thinking by bringing concepts alive in application to real case studies. \nLive on Zoom only\, \nfrom ACAP in Livingston\, NJ \nBe on the lookout for the upcoming list of guest speakers! \n\nInstructor:\nPatricia Harte Bratt\, PhD is a psychoanalyst and psychotherapist practicing in Livingston\, NJ and New York City. Dr. Bratt is a director at ACAP\, and BGSP-NJ. She is president of the National Association for Advancement of Psychoanalysis (NAAP) and the NJ Certified Psychoanalysts Advisory Committee. \nAs Director of Applied Psychoanalysis at ACAP Dr. Bratt developed it’s program in Trauma & Resilience Studies\, and in 2018 launched the iStrive Center: a weekend program for young adults on the autism spectrum. \nDr. Bratt’s recent book\, Mutual Growth in the Psychotherapeutic Relationship: Reciprocal Resilience\, is published by Routledge \nwww.patriciabratt.com \npatbratt@comcast.net \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis course provides 10 CE hours. \nThere is a $17 administration fee for certificates. \nACAP is an approved CE provider for: \nArt Therapists \nCounselors \nMarriage and Family Counselors\nPsychoanalysts \nNY Psychoanalysts \nSocial Workers\nNY Social Workers \nNY Creative Arts Therapists \nPsychologists \n Click here for full information on Click here for full information on \nCE @ ACAP/BGSP-NJ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor questions or information\, email Cassio Campello at events@acapnj.org  \nor call 973-629-1002 \nLearn about ACAP’s CE programs and nationally accredited \nPsychoanalytic Certificate program: \nwww.acapnj.org \nLearn about BGSP-NJ’s regionally accredited MA’s \nin Clinical Mental Health Counseling\nand \nin Psychoanalysis: \nnj.bgsp.edu \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCosponsored by: \nNAAP \nNational Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis\nis the membership association representing Psychoanalysts \nin professional advancement\, and legislative\, cultural\, credentialing\, \nand public awareness projects.\nnaap.org
