Brown Bag Lunch Series
January 17, 2024 12:00 – 1:00pm
On Zoom – 1 CE
Therapy with children and adolescents is usually accompanied by pressures for progress and for behavioral change. The work can be frustrating for us because our young clients are not inclined to talk directly about their struggles; they often work on their issues in camouflaged ways – discussing TV shows, sports or computer games.
In this workshop, Dr. Rosenthal will share what he has learned about doing therapy with all age groups, from his work with non-talking children and adolescents.
But what if our client cannot talk, or will not talk at all in their sessions? What if they say nothing to us, week after week, month after month, year after year?
Course Objectives – Participants will be able to:
- Explain how ego protective approaches are applied with non-verbal clients of all ages.
- Formulate individualized treatment plans for non-verbal clients.
- Identify three strategies for working therapeutically with non-verbal clients.
