The course prepares clinicians to work psychodynamically, at a new depth, with a wide range of presenting symptoms and offers perspectives from other mental health disciplines.

The recognition of constitutional tendencies, early attachment issues, psychological resistances, transference and countertransference issues will be addressed in terms of origins of conditions and impact on the treatment alliance.

This course meets on six dates. Each week different clinical diagnostic categories are discussed, such as:

  • Addictions
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder
  • Intermittent Explosive Disorder and other disorders of impulse and compulsion will be explored.

The One-Year Program

The program consists of four courses over one year. It provides an opportunity for mental health practitioners and professionals in various disciplines to enhance clinical skills, introducing innovative, Modern Psychoanalytic principles, theories, and techniques.

Participants will discover effective strategies for designing interventions that can reverse maladaptive emotional and behavioral patterns. Through hands-on learning, they will quickly build practical clinical skills that make a lasting difference in their work with clients—fostering collaboration, self-definition, and meaningful growth.

ACAP’s unique methods for navigating challenging clinical situations can be the key to transforming burnout into renewed professional satisfaction. These approaches are grounded in the foundational concepts of Modern Psychoanalysis, offering both depth and practical application.
