Fall Conference: From Breakdown to Breakthrough: Psychoanalytic Treatment of Psychosis

Participants will be able to:

1. Explore why many mental health practitioners have shied away from working with psychosis and how to meet the challenges of working with these patients.

2. Learn techniques for working with psychosis and extreme states.

3. Identify and work with positive and negative symptoms while viewing the patient as a whole person.


Danielle Knafo, Ph.D., is a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst with 40 years of experience. She served as a professor at Long Island University, where she chaired a concentration on serious mental illness. Currently, she is a faculty member and supervisor at NYU and Adelphi Postdoctoral Programs. A prolific writer, Danielle has authored ten books and numerous articles on topics like art and creativity, trauma, psychosis, sex and gender, and technology and AI. Her notable works include “The Age of Perversion” and “From Breakdown to Breakthrough: Psychoanalytic Treatment of Psychosis.” She also conducts writing groups and maintains a private practice in Manhattan and Great Neck, New York.


Conference Costs:

• Professionals NOT seeking CE credits/clock hours: $ 90.00.

• NJI Faculty currently teaching: $60.00

• Current NJI candidates: $25.00

• Other Institutes candidates (ID REQUIRED): $25.00
