Psychoanalytic Certificate Program —

A nationally accredited, graduate program by ABAP, the American Board for Accreditation in Psychoanalysis, leading to certification as a professional psychoanalyst.

In-person in NJ, fully online, or in hybrid format

Nationally accredited since 1990, graduates of the Certificate Psychoanalytic Program are eligible to apply for New Jersey State Certification as a Psychoanalyst.

The full psychoanalytic certificate program is designed to provide the postmasters or postdoctoral student, from any discipline, with a broad foundation in the fundamentals of psychoanalysis. Applicants without prior graduate experience may consider applying to our sister program, through BGSP, the regionally accredited MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling (MACMHC).  As with ACAP’s courses, the MACMHC can be completed in person in NJ, fully online, or in hybrid format. Enrollment in that program provides a prematriculation experience for the full psychoanalytic program, plus a pathway to state licensure as a Mental Health Counselor.

The full psychoanalytic certificate program consists of academic coursework, supervised clinical practice and personal analysis to prepare students to enter the profession of psychoanalysis at the most advanced level. Students work with patients at the North Jersey Consultation Center (NJCC).  Graduates are eligible to apply for State Certification in NJ and other states offering licensure or certification.
